As a community - oriented shop, we love discovering and bringing in unique products from many places around the world. Along the way, we realized something exiting  -  so many amazing dishes can be easily made at home using the ingredients we carry in store.

That's why we create this blog. To share what we know, from simple recipes and tasty dishes to the ingredients that make them special. Our goal is to make your cooking experience fun, approachable, and informative -  one post at a time.

Golden Gate Variety Store first opened it's doors in November 1995. It's been 30 years of serving the community, built from a simple idea my parents had - to create a culturally oriented shop based on what we knew best. Coming from Malaysia, this was our way of sharing our roots through food and everyday products.

With a lot of hard work and being open seven days a week, the store has continued to grow year after year, bringing in a wide variety of goods for the community. We're incredibly grateful for the support of such a wonderful community who has allowed us to continue this journey for three decades -  and counting.
